Rüttelweiber
nature_spirit forest Silesian folklore single tradition · 1
Little women clad in moss who are chased by the Nachtjäger in the Giant Mountains of Silesia. They can only find rest on the trunk of a felled tree if the woodsman said "Gott wael's!" ("God may prevail!" in Silesian dialect) when cutting it down. If the woodsman said "Waels Gott!" instead, putting God at the end, the trunk offers no rest and they must constantly flee.
