Maximus was a Roman soldier who was martyred along with Cecilia, Valerian, and Tiburtius around 230 CE under Emperor Alexander Severus. He is mentioned in the Acts of the Martyrs in relation to the other three martyrs. His relation to Cecilia, Valerian, and Tiburtius has some historical foundation.
