Valerian

Valerian was a pagan nobleman of Rome who was forced to marry Cecilia. After Cecilia told him an angel watched over her, he followed her instruction to be baptized by Pope Urban I at the third milestone on the Via Appia, after which he saw the angel crowning Cecilia with roses and lilies. He was martyred at the hands of the prefect Turcius Almachius before Cecilia's own martyrdom.
