Tieguai Li is one of the Eight Immortals who discovers Huayue Sanniang's affair with a mortal and reports it to the Jade Emperor, leading to her imprisonment. Feeling guilty for his role in her punishment, he later accepts her son Chenxiang as his disciple and helps him rescue his mother by guiding him to grow from a child into a fifteen-year-old youth.
