St. Margaret appeared in visions to Joan of Arc throughout her life, probably Margaret of Antioch. She was known as a virgin saint who strove against powerful enemies, was tortured and martyred for her beliefs, and preserved her virtue to the death. Joan swore a vow of virginity to the voices of St. Margaret and St. Catherine.
