Ruatapu
deity Māori single tradition · 1
Ruatapu is the son of Uenuku who was shamed by his father. After this, Ruatapu lures the nobles of Hawaiki into a canoe, and then kills all of them, save for Kahutia-te-rangi who manages to escape and migrate to New Zealand with the help of the gods. Afterwards in some versions, he uses incantations to destroy the land.
