A Black Madonna venerated at Le Puy-en-Velay, France. The original ebony image clothed in gold brocade was given to the cathedral by Saint Louis IX of France in 1254 upon his return from the Holy Land but was destroyed during the Revolution and replaced with a copy at the Restoration that continues to be venerated.
