Emperor Decius is the ruler who persecutes Christophoros and his converts after being incited by the devil. He orders multiple execution attempts against Christopher and commands everyone to sacrifice to heathen gods. As a result of Christophoros's prayer, Decius becomes afflicted by a terrible disease which dissolves his body, causing him to die eating his own flesh in demonic torment.
