Anchin is a priest from Shirakawa in Ōshū province making pilgrimage to the Kumano Shrine in southern Kii. He deceives Kiyohime with a false promise to return in order to avoid her. He is eventually killed by Kiyohime's fiery breath after hiding under the bonshō bell of the Dōjō-ji temple.
