ʿAštart was an ancient West Asian goddess whose cult influenced the Scythian goddess Artimpasa during the 7th century BCE. In her form worshipped at Ascalon, she was an androgynous vegetation-fertility goddess with the ability to change men into women and women into men. She was often accompanied by a minor semi-bestial goddess in Levantine cults.
