Yao Wang (Medicine King) was a Brahman who, along with his two sons, made a Bodhisattva vow to alleviate the suffering of all sentient beings. Dipankara advised the Brahman to change his name to Yao Wang. Through their spiritual journey, Yao Wang achieved enlightenment and became the Medicine Buddha.
