White Guard

The White Guard is a fair complexioned spiritual being dressed in white robes who wears a tall hat bearing auspicious Chinese inscriptions such as "Become Rich Upon Encountering Me" or "You Have Come Too". He holds a hand fan and a fish-shaped shackle or wooden sign, and is usually depicted as the taller member of a duo. He serves to escort souls and bring fortune, sometimes depicted with a long red tongue to scare away evil spirits.
