Ususama-myō-ō is a Japanese deity, a form of the toilet god or kawaya kami. The protection of the toilet god was sought to avoid falling in and drowning in the often dark and unpleasant toilets. The god also had a role to play in promoting fertility, as human waste was collected and used as fertiliser.
