Urganda is a mythological witch and one of the Fates who appears in Matteo Maria Boiardo's epic poem Orlando in Love (1495). She protects the hero Amadigi and is noted for her ability to change her form and appearance at will, a faculty similar to that of Merlin. In Spanish romance literature she is portrayed as an enchantress and is referenced by Miguel Cervantes in the preliminary Poems of Don Quixote (1605).
