Upasunda is an asura brother who, along with his brother Sunda, practiced severe austerities on the Vindhya mountains. Brahma granted them the boon that nothing but they themselves can hurt each other. Upasunda and Sunda attacked Svarga and drove the devas out, conquering the whole universe and harassing sages.
