Tiqsi Huiracocha
deity Quechuan single tradition · 1
A deity whose name may derive from Quechuan words meaning "origin" or "beginning" (tiqsi), fat (wira), and lake, sea, or reservoir (qucha). Viracocha is described with many epithets including great, all knowing, and powerful. The name has been interpreted variously as "lake of origin and of the end of all things" or possibly borrowed from Aymara meaning "blood lake" due to camelid sacrifices at Lake Titiqaqa.
