Temblai is the younger sister of Mahalaxmi who left the city of Kolhapur 1800 years ago and came to a hillock three miles from the city. She remained there with her back to her elder sister at Mahalaxmi temple. Every year in the month of Ashvin, on the fifth day of the bright moon, her elder sister Mahalaxmi visits her at Temblai hill.
