Simon the Zealot is an apostle who, according to one tradition, suffered martyrdom about 65 AD in Beirut, in the Roman province of Syria during the 1st century in Lebanon together with the apostle Jude. According to one account, Simon's remains are in one tomb with the remains of the apostle Jude in the left transept of St. Peter's Basilica under the main altar of St. Joseph.
