Sergius of Radonezh was a Russian spiritual leader and monastic reformer who lived from 1314 to 1392. He founded the Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius near Moscow, which became the most venerated monastic house in Russia. Together with Seraphim of Sarov, he is one of the most highly venerated saints in Russia and exerted the greatest influence of any personage on the Russian Orthodox Church.
