Saint Clare of Assisi

Saint Clare of Assisi was canonized on 26 September 1255 by Pope Alexander IV, two years after her death in 1253. She founded the Order of Poor Ladies, later renamed the Order of Saint Clare in 1263. Her remains are enshrined in the Basilica of Saint Clare where they can be venerated, and she is honored with the Office for the Virgin Saints.
