Saint Anthony of Padua

Saint Anthony of Padua was a Portuguese Catholic priest and member of the Order of Friars Minor, canonized less than a year after his death in 1231. He was noted by his contemporaries for his powerful preaching, expert knowledge of scripture, and undying love and devotion to the poor and the sick. He was proclaimed a Doctor of the Church by Pope Pius XII on 16 January 1946.
