Sabazios
deity earth Phrygian single tradition · 1
Sabazios is a Phrygian god who is often mentioned alongside Hipta in inscriptions from the Katakekaumene region of Lydia dating to the 1st-3rd centuries AD. Epigraphic evidence indicates that Hipta and Sabazios were the subject of worship together in the region, suggesting a sanctuary dedicated to both gods existed in the area. In the Orphic Hymns, Hipta is described as exulting the rites of Sabazios.
