Pachomius was an abbot to the cenobites for about thirty years. He died on 14 Pashons, 64 AM (9 May 348 AD). He is credited with many miracles, including miraculously speaking Greek or Latin, despite never having learned them, and being the first Christian to use and recommend use of a prayer rope.
