Osagujin is a tree deity (木の神, ki no kami) of Suwa Shrine in Shinano Province. The deity's name transformed into such variant forms as 'Shaguji' (社宮司), 'Shagoji' (社護神), or 'Shagunjin' (遮軍神), and spread only in the Chūbu region and its neighboring areas.
