Namarrkon

Namarrkon is the lightning man who soaks up the sun's rays, forming bright arcs of light across his shoulders. He lives high in the sky, riding storm clouds and creating thunderous sounds by striking the clouds with stone axes fixed to his head, elbows, and knees. He appears each year in Kunumeleng during the pre-monsoon season, reminding people of the consequences of invoking spiritual power and striking offenders with fiery spears of lightning if they disobey the law.
