Mutu-hei is the personification of silence in Marquesas Islands mythology. Mutu-hei lived for eternity in the boundless darkness of the underworld (Po) with Tanaoa. Atea and Ono made war on Tanaoa and Mutu-hei, defeated them, and confined the gods of night within set boundaries.
