Muia was a pretty young girl who became Selene's rival for Endymion's affections. She would endlessly talk to Endymion while he slept, causing him to wake up, which irritated Endymion and enraged Selene. Selene transformed her into a fly as punishment, and in memory of Endymion, the fly still grudges all sleepers their rest and annoys them.
