Mucha, short for Pratimokṣa in Chinese, was a historical figure in Han Buddhism during the Tang Empire era who served as an apprentice of Master Sangha. He was later fictionalized as Kuan Yin's apprentice in the Zajü Journey to the West during the Great Yuan period. In the Ming period novel Journey to the West, he was further blended with Hui-an as the composite figure "Mucha Hui-an."
