Mēr

deity single tradition · 1

Mēr is a god whose name appears in the theophoric name Itūr-Mēr, which can be translated as "(the god) Mēr has turned (to me)" or "Mēr has returned." Some researchers propose that Itūr-Mēr was a hypostasis of Mēr. According to Schwemer, an argument against identifying Itūr-Mēr and Mēr as two forms of one deity is the fact that the former was not a weather god.
