Mímisbrunnr is a well located beneath one of the three roots of Yggdrasil, in the place where the primordial space of Ginnungagap once existed and where the frost jötnar now live. The well contains wisdom and intelligence. Odin (All-father) sought a drink from this well and had to pledge his eye as payment to obtain it.
