A troublesome spirit from Lancashire folklore that was buried at a bend in the road under an ash tree along with a cockerel and stake, yet remained able to cause mischief despite being interred. The boggart manifested with red burning eyes, created loud banging and laughter, cast blue light from three candles, and left cloven hoof marks. It was known to unhitch horses, overturn carts, and terrorize local farmhouses at night.
