Kirta, also known as Keret, is the son of the great god El and King of Hubur in Ugaritic mythology. He is considered unfortunate, having been widowed seven times with no surviving children and being the last surviving member of his family. After receiving divine instruction from his father El, he wages war to win a princess as his wife and has several children, though he later angers the goddess Athirat and is cursed with illness.
