Kanjirottu Yakshi is a folkloric deity of South India who was originally a beautiful courtesan named Chiruthevi from the Mangalathu family of Padamangalam at Kanjiracode in Southern Travancore. She had an intimate relationship with Raman Thampi, son of King Rama Varma. After being murdered by her palanquin-bearer, she transformed into a Yakshi who waylays men with her beauty and drinks their blood.
