James the Great

James the Great was one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus and the first apostle to be martyred, dying around 44 CE. He is the patron saint of Spain, and according to tradition his remains are held in Santiago de Compostela in Galicia. He was the son of Zebedee and brother of John.
