Ishtar of Kish was regarded as separate from Ishtar of Uruk. Joan Goodnick Westenholz argues that initially Zababa was the husband of Ishtar of Kish, but after the Old Babylonian period she was replaced in the role of his spouse by Bau, though she continued to be worshiped independently.
