Holzweibel

nature_spirit forest Germanic folklore single tradition · 1

Little wood women who bake cakes in the mountains, causing fog that appears as smoke. They occasionally gift these cakes to humans who ask for them. In silent noon and midnight hours, they sing very lovely songs with unintelligible lyrics. In the morning, they wash their faces with dew from Alchemilla leaves, draw their bodies through dewy grass, and dry themselves with hair moss or rags gifted by humans.
