Hiʻiaka-i-ka-poli-o-pele, also known simply as Hiʻiaka, is the favored sister of Pele who is entrusted with an egg that hatches into her and is sent by Pele to bring the chief Lohiʻau from Kauaʻi. She invokes the sorcery goddess Uli to revive Lohiʻau after finding him dead and later embraces Lohiʻau in spite of Pele’s jealousy.
