Gawiewdad (Av. Gavaevodata) is the primordial bovine killed by Jeh (Jahi) after being incited by Ahriman (Av: Angra Mainyu). As the creature lies dying, the chihr is rescued and placed in the care of the moon, becoming the "prototype" (karb) of all creatures of the animal world.
