Galinthias was the playmate and companion of Alcmene. She deceived the Moirai and Eileithyia by announcing that a boy had been born to Alcmene. The Moirai were aggrieved at this and took away the womanly parts of Galinthias, turning her into a deceitful weasel (or polecat).
