Fosite
deity Frisian people single tradition · 1
Fosite is a god worshipped on an island between Frisia and Denmark, which was sacred to him and called Fositesland after him. He is associated with a sacred spring from which water had to be drawn in silence. A late-medieval legend identifies Fosite with a stranger who appeared to Frisian representatives adrift in a rudderless boat.

“Adam of Bremen states, Fosite's sacred island was Heligoland, that would make him an ideal candidate for a deity known to both Frisians and Scandinavians, but that it is surprising he is never mentioned by Saxo Grammaticus.”
