Brìghde is a seasonal goddess who rules the summer months between Bealltainn and Samhainn, in partnership with the Cailleach. Some interpretations have the Cailleach and Brìghde as two faces of the same goddess. The transfer of power between the winter goddess (Cailleach) and the summer goddess (Brìghde) is celebrated between Là Fhèill Brìghde and Bealltainn.
