Boyakonda Gangamma is a manifestation of the Goddess Shakti who descended from a hillock to protect tribal communities. She shielded the Boyas and Pala Ekari castes from the Nawab's army during their revolt against Muslim rule. According to local tradition, she crushed the Nawab's forces and tied the heads of soldiers to banyan tree branches, after which a temple was built in her honor.
