Bhutamata is a frightful form of the Hindu goddess Parvati, sometimes also regarded to be the shakti (divine feminine energy) of the deity Kartikeya. She is a twelve-eyed goddess who emerged from between Kartikeya's eyebrows out of his fury. She serves as the mother of the bhutas (ghosts) and was commanded to bring disobedient creatures to submission and restore them to right conduct.
