Athena Hygieia

Athena Hygieia was a cult title given to the Greek goddess Athena, associated with health and healing. Pausanias noted statues of both Hygieia and Athena Hygieia near the entrance to the Acropolis of Athens in the 2nd century AD. A brass statue of Athena Hygieia was set up in the citadel near the altar after the goddess appeared in a dream to Pericles and provided healing instructions for an injured workman during the building of the Parthenon (447–432 BC).
