Anukite
deity sky single tradition · 1
Anukite, also known as Winyan Numpa (Double Woman), has three variations of existence in Lakota oral traditions. She was originally named Ite (Face), the daughter of the first man and first woman, but after disrespecting the Sun, she was cast down from heaven to the earth and half of her face became ugly. As Sinte Sapela Win, she appears to men in dreams or visions, either as a single deer or two deer women.
