Amymone is a figure in ancient Greek legend, daughter of Danaüs and one of the Danaids. She was sent with her sisters to find water for the parched land of Argos, where she encountered a satyr and called upon Poseidon for help. Poseidon responded by causing a spring to emerge, which was named after her, and she became the mother of Nauplius through him.
